Annapolis Rock

We went on a fall hike on the Appalachian Trail today to a place called Annapolis Rock. Not only was it a good opportunity to get out in the nice fall weather and see the colors in peak bloom, but I was also able to test out my new wide-angle lens!

Huntley Meadows Park

Long time no see! We’ve felt really guilty about never posting on here, but this past semester for Kirsten has been particularly brutal and we haven’t really been up to much lately. All of our weekends are taken up with schoolwork and housework. But Kirsten is almost done with this semester and next week is her last week of classes!

Anniversary Pictures

Mike and I want to try to take pictures together every year around our anniversary, so we headed out to a couple parks near our house. It was perfect having my sister Natalie in town since photography is one of her hobbies, and she was nice enough to take some pictures for us. It was fun to get some pictures with her, too!

Chincoteague

Family Road Trip: Part 4

After a really fun time in Charleston, we drove the 8 hours back up to Washington, DC (putting us at about 2,200 miles total, or almost as many miles in a week as we’d driven since getting the car in February!). We met up with Natalie in downtown DC after her work to get dinner at China Chilcano, a Peruvian and Asian fusion restaurant, since Natalie had been craving some good Peruvian food after her semester in Peru last fall. The food was really good and it was nice being reunited with Natalie again!

Family Road Trip: Part 1

Mike and I took a road trip last week with my parents and siblings. We started off by going to Tampa and then making our way back up the coast to DC, stopping in Charleston along the way. Mike had never really been on a road trip before besides driving to move out here, and it had been forever since my family had been able to coordinate time off together on a vacation like this in a few years, so it was really great to be able to do this with everyone! We really packed it in and took advantage of everything we could, so it was a bit of a whirlwind, but it was the most fun that I’ve had in a long time.

4th of July

4th of July has always been one of my favorite holidays – right at the height of summer when the grilling is in full swing, there’s a day off work to spend some extra time with family and friends, and the festivities usually end with some pretty awesome fireworks. That’s hard to beat, I think!
